About
EuroMed Café is an independent online magazine dedicated to the cinema, music, and cultural currents of the Mediterranean world. From the film studios of Cairo to the fado houses of Lisbon, from the rebetiko tavernas of Athens to the concert halls of Algiers — we cover the creative voices that connect Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
Our Story
Founded in the tradition of the Euro-Mediterranean cultural exchange that flourished in the early 2000s, EuroMed Café grew out of a simple conviction: that the most powerful bridges between civilizations are built through art, not politics. Our archive includes original interviews with filmmakers, musicians, and writers who have shaped the cultural landscape of the Mediterranean basin over the past two decades.
What We Cover
Our editorial focus spans three main areas:
- Film — Reviews, retrospectives, and analysis of Mediterranean cinema, from arthouse features to award-winning short films. We pay particular attention to voices from the Maghreb, the Levant, and Southern Europe.
- Music — Profiles of artists and genres that define the Mediterranean soundscape: gnawa, flamenco, rebetiko, fado, rai, electronic, and the countless fusions that emerge when these traditions meet.
- Interviews — Conversations with directors, musicians, writers, and cultural figures. Our archive includes landmark interviews with Youssef Chahine, Amin Maalouf, Yamina Benguigui, and others.
